Colombia is the world’s third largest producer of coffee, with coffee grown by over 500,000 producers over more than 900,000 hectares of land. 2.4 million Colombians economically depend on coffee production, which is about quarter of the country’s rural population.
In the main, Colombian growers are small producers, with only 5% of farms cultivating more than 5 hectares in coffee.
